Online Databases
This page contains links to the various on-line databases that we use in our ongoing work. In the near future, it will also link to various public databases that we will be hosting, including a database of bird records for the Perth region, and other datasets.
Internal Online Databases
- Digital Birding Database - a web database that stores the records of Piers' personal birding records, and is the repository for the data collected using the Digital Birding Tool. This is a proof-of-concept database that shows that data can be obtained from the web in a format that meets reporting requirements.
External Online Databases
- OZCAM - the Online Zoological Collections of Australian Museums, which gives you the ability to search a range of databases for details of distributions of all fauna groups.
- Faunabase and Faunalist - taxonomic and distributional information about the various vertebrate fauna species in Western Australia, developed by the Western Australian Museum.
- Florabase - taxonomic and distributional details of the various flora species in Western Australia, developed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) Herbarium.
- Bugbase - details of a collection of terrestrial invertebrates, developed by CALM and Agriculture Western Australia.
- The Pilbara Biological Survey Database - providing the ability to search for details of biological surveys that have been carried out in the Pilbara region of Western Australia (and something we have participated in the development of over the past few years)
- The Australian Spatial Data Directory - enabling you to search for spatial (GIS) data across a range of institutions.
If you have your own databases that you would like to have listed on this site, just drop us an email.
