Demos
Gaia Resources has been working on a range of web applications for a range of clients and for our own use. We’ve put together some of these technologies and processes in the following demonstration (and production) sites.
Earth 2.0
Earth 2.0 is our flagship web-based application, designed and developed specifically to assist organisations undertaking field surveys. Earth 2.0 is a subscription based application, built entirely using open source products.
A demonstration version of a small part of Earth 2.0 can be found here. This demonstration takes you through how sites are defined and demonstrates some of the mapping tools in place in the full version of the application.
Digital Bird Database
The Digital Bird Database is a front end to the bird records that Piers has been collecting over the past few years and has made publicly available.
This is powered by an open source database in the back end, into which Piers loads data into from his surveys (collected using PDAs and other tools). Since this is completely free, we can use Google Maps to provide a simple – yet powerful - map interface for this application.
