Gaia Resources Scholarship

In 2007, we started a scholarship to Curtin University's Department of Spatial Sciences, for the student enrolling in the spatial sciences with the highest TER score. In addition to the $3,500 cash component, we are also providing the student with opportunities for mentoring, for paid work and for assistance with projects for their university studies.

A few people have asked why, as a small business, we are providing a scholarship at all. We feel that there is a lack of people graduating with spatial science qualifications, meaning our industry faces tough times, despite the resources boom. A scholarship helps to attract students in, meaning that there might be a few more people to employ one day down the track. This longer-term view is something we think we should be thinking about, and fits in with our company values.

A listing of the recipients of the scholarship are provided below.
