Biological Data Recording System

The Biological Data Recording System (BDRS) is an open-source (and freely available) toolset suitable for a wide range of organisations and can be used to collect, store and manage both biological and non-biological data. If your organisation wants to collect your data using mobile tools, store it in a web-enabled system so many people can contribute and view to it, and get detailed reports and data from the system for use in reporting, then the BDRS could help you.

The BDRS is already in use in a wide range of different applications, and has won several awards. It is being used by:

  • Volunteer based environmental groups,
  • Not for profit environmental groups (such as Climatewatch),
  • Government agencies,
  • Commercial environmental consultants, and
  • Mining companies.

There are a range of ways that you can get involved in using - or even developing - this software.

If you want to use it for your organisation, you need to look at the installation requirements listed on the Google Code Wiki. If you need help, then please contact us.

Gaia Resources provides commercial support for the system, and have implemented it for a range of organisations. We also provide web site hosting packages to provide a true holistic solution for our clients.

The Biological Data Recording System (BDRS) is an open source software package that was developed initially with funding from the Atlas of Living Australia. Gaia Resources manages the ongoing project, through the Google Code repository, and will continue to do so. The BDRS contains web server and mobile device software in the code base, and we will be managing this software through a separate community website, coming soon.
