Geographic Information Systems

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are tools that allow you to undertake all sorts of useful operations - from powerful geographical analysis through to simple report mapping. GIS plays a supporting role in much of the environmental industry.

We can provide a variety of services in the area of GIS, including:

  • Spatial data capture - scanning, digitising, attributing and polygonising your data (even your field mud maps!) to create digital GIS datasets
  • Map production - for any size, any scale and any format print - or even digital files for direct insertion into your reporting documents
  • Training - in just about any platform. We have experience in the main software packages, and we can develop a tailored course for you that doesn't include aspects of the software you simply won't use
  • Strategic GIS review and advice - do you need to develop a GIS capability in-house or is an outsourcing model a better one for you?

We use a range of GIS and related software in-house, including products by the GIS industry leaders, ESRI and MapInfo, as well as a wide range of open source software such a uDIG and QuantumGIS. We also have a range of experience in server solutions, using open source technologies such as PostGIS, MapServer and others.
