They say time flies when you’re having fun, that’s exactly how it feels after recently celebrating my 5 years at Gaia.
I joined the team in March 2021, stepping into the role of Marketing Coordinator.
After arriving in Australia in late 2005, I was a stay at home mum but with my kids getting older, I was ready to get back into the work force. With a background in marketing, advertising and finance, the role of part time marketing coordinator was the perfect fit. The role offered something more valuable than just a job title: flexibility. Working part-time meant I didn't have to miss out on the important school milestones for my kids in order to be stuck in the office for a 9 - 5 timeline.
In 2023, that flexibility became my lifeline. Facing health challenges is overwhelming enough without worrying about "clocking in." Knowing the team truly had my back and was putting people before spreadsheets. That is what makes our culture special.
Over the last five years, my role has changed a lot. My job title is now Marketing and Executive Coordinator. I’ve loved seeing my role evolve - from the core marketing work to taking on the organising of QGIS training, invoicing and planning events like team week to name a few.
Some of my highlights would have to be
- Organising the last 3 team weeks, event planning is my passion so organising team week is me in my element
- Coordinating QGIS training
- The growth we’ve seen across our social platforms
Five years in and I’m curious to see what the next five years bring.
